Medical Dermatology
Dermatology focuses on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases affecting not just skin, but also hair, nails and mucous membranes. In light of this, we believe our patients are best served by adhering to this “whole body” approach to diagnosing and treating dermatological conditions.
While skin cancer evaluation, prevention and treatment is a key part of our dermatology services, we also focus on pediatric dermatology, teen acne, diseases affecting the scalp, disorders of nails and gums, psoriasis, allergic diseases of the skin, and aesthetic improvement of the aging face.
Some of the most common skin conditions we treat include:
- Inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, acne and allergic contact dermatitis.
- Infections of the skin such as fungal infections (ringworm) of body, feet and nails, as well as common and rare bacterial, viral and parasitic infections of the skin and hair.
- Benign skin growths such as warts, seborrheic keratoses (age spots), lentigines (sun spots), cysts, angiomas and skin tags.
- Precancerous and cancerous skin growths including actinic keratoses (pre-cancers), basal cell skin cancer, squamous cell skin cancer and melanoma.
Surgical Dermatology
Some skin conditions require more than topical treatments or oral medication for relief or cure. This may include more invasive procedures for diagnosis and treatment. MMS dermatologists possess the expertise and the state-of-the-art equipment necessary for this level of care.
Cosmetic Dermatology
We are fortunate to live in a time when numerous procedures and treatments are available to heal and/or reduce the effects that aging, environment, illness, medication and lifestyle can have on our skin. Midwest Medical Specialists offers a variety of options, all of them administered by our physicians and certified aestheticians using state-of-the-art equipment.

Cancer
Early detection is critical to preventing fatal outcomes. Cancers of the head and neck such as laryngeal cancer can be particularly aggressive. Signs of cancer of the head and neck include changes in the skin, pain, prolonged hoarseness, and sudden loss of voice. If you suffer from any of these symptoms you should see an ENT or head and neck physician immediately.

- Tumors of the salivary glands

Pediatric
Children face many of the same health problems that adults do, however symptoms may show themselves differently and treatment methods that work well in adults may not be appropriate for children.

Our providers are committed to providing the highest level of care to every patient. We welcome patients of all ages and are dedicated to your health. Upon consultation, an individualized treatment plan will be developed with you to meet your healthcare needs and your goal for your desired health outcome.
Aesthetics
Hello smooth forehead and goodbye wrinkly eyes! Botox® Cosmetic, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau® are great treatment options to treat and prevent fine lines, wrinkles, and deep facial furrows. Results last about 3-4 months.

- Juveau®
Over time, natural fat begins to deteriorate, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles, smaller lips, and a reduction of volume. Facial fillers provide a solution through facial injections. Juvéderm® and RHA products help eliminate wrinkles, plump and hydrate lips, minimize creases and folds of the face, and replace volume loss.
- RHA Fillers
- Juvéderm® Fillers
- Radiesse Fillers
Radiesse fillers work differently in that they stimulate your own natural collagen. In other words, it will not only make your skin look better, but will keep your skin wrinkle free for much longer than other methods. This product can be used in several locations to include smile lines, cheeks, marionette lines, corners of the mouth, chin wrinkles, the pre-jowl fold on the sides of your chin, back of hands, decollete, back of upper arm, above knee and buttocks.
Goodbye double chin and hello refined jawline! Kybella® is injected under the chin to permanently destroy fat cells and get rid of your double chin. Typically, 2-4 treatments are needed and results are visible in 30-90 days. Great news: those results are permanent!
- Kybella®
Belotero®, AKA “the airbrush,” is meant for the treatment of tiny lines; like those that develop around the mouth or chin. The primary difference between Belotero® and other fillers is its softness: the product is easily integrated into skin and also works well to restore fullness to facial planes and contours.

Latisse® is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes.
